I made mine as Drow dualling to sorcerer. Also, bard is good for overall support and as a party talker, paladins are not good for talking as they refuse quest rewards. My favorites for frontline are half-orc fighter/paladin (unfortunately my desired fighter/barbarian/paladin combo is unreachable) and fighter/cleric shield dwarf (battleguard of tempus, for the free axe specialization).
